Week 9 Post 2
A section of Chapter 15 discusses the impact of technology on cognition. Practically every school in the United States have computers available to students and faculty, or at least the internet is available. Most teenagers own computers or are able to get computers from their schools. Some of the school districts from where I'm from have integrated new systems in which students are able to keep a laptop for free. For example, in my school district, students coming into 9th grade receive a laptop for free. They keep this laptop until they graduate. It makes it easier for the students to always be able to do their work and students are no longer able to use the excuse that they didn't have a computer at home to do their homework. I think it's a great program and I wish the program was in place when I was in high school. If I ever had to do work on a computer, sometimes it was difficult because my household had one computer for me, my sister, and parents to share. Personally, I like doing work online or doing work on the computer. Our age group is very technology savvy so I think we should use the computer and internet to our advantage. Every semester, I take an online course because I like how our generation is able to use the internet and the technology available to us.
