Week 8 Post 1

I definitely agree that kids that come from families with low income have disadvantages that wealthier families do not have to deal with. For example many wealthier families can afford the extras a kid needs like the best computer or the best calculator out there, tutors, etc. On the other hand many low income families struggle to provide schools supplies like binders and pencils to their children. Also the low income families have more stress than the wealthier families because the parents are generally more stressed and they have to worry about bills and where their next meal is coming from. However this is not to say that the low income family children cannot do as well or better than any or the other children. The kids overcome these feats through separating themselves from the stressors. Definitely joining activities and becoming friends with people that are motivated and supportive are a huge factor in helping with success. I know I often work better when           I’m busy for some reason because then I am on task because I know I need to get all these things done rather than procrastinating on the one paper I need to do because I know I have all day to do it. I do not think being rich or poor defines out status at all. There are definitely ways to achieve what you want to do in life if you are determined. Scholarships, working, doing well in school, and being focused help anyone to achieve what they want to do.
