Week 9 Post 1
The mirror, mirror aspect was talked a bout in chapter 15 on page 408. This is when a kid at the peak of their adolescent egocentrism. This scenario comes about when say a young girl is trying to be a rebel and wear her hat backwards, yet has nail polish on and ear rings in her ears. I can relate to this a lot because when I was in elementary and middle school I was such a tom boy. I had two brothers growing up and I just always did whatever they were doing. At recess I would always play soccer or football or whatever sport all the guys were playing that day. My mom used to always buy really nice girly clothes and try to pamper me at spas but I never really caught on to it. It got to the point where she just gave up and accepted that I was a tom boy. As I got into my seventh and eighth grade years I started to become a little more girly and was in the mirror mirror stage where I still dressed down a lot yet I began wearing nail polish and ear rings to school. Once high school came around I dressed very girly and never wore the boyish clothes again unless it was at or after my field hockey and softball games.
