When I was reading this part of the chapter it made me take time a think about my parents. My parents were definitely authoritative because for the fact my brother and I always had set rules that we always followed, as being young adults we still follow these rules. Whenever my brother or I disagreed with any kind of ruling they made, my parents took the time to sit down and listen to our side of the case. My brother and I have both grown up to be happy adults.

Week 6 post 1
In chapter 10 it explained Diana Baumrind Three Styles of Parenting. The first kind was authoritarian parenting which is a style of parenting that is characterized by high behavioral standards, strict punishment of misconduct, and little communication. It also explain that children with these kind of parents were likely to become conscientious obedient and quiet but not happy. The tend to feel guilty or depressed and they blame themselves. The other kind was permissive parenting, and this parenting is characterized by high nurturance and communication but little discipline guidance or control. It also mention that these children are usually unhappy and lack self-control especially in peer-relationships, and they are very immature, and will be dependent on parents when becoming adults. Then the last kind of style is authoritative parenting and it is characterized the parent setting limits but listen to the child and are flexible. These children are successful, happy with themselves.
