Week 7 Post 1

This week I read chapter 12. In the chapter it went over memory, I took a general psychology class before so this part was some what familiar . A new word though I learned was working memory. Working memory is the component of the information-processing system in which current conscious mental activity occurs. It was formerly called short term memory. I also found it interesting that working memory improves with every year from about age 4 to 15. The book also stated that not just exposure is essential to getting information into working memory, but also processing. Working memory during the school years includes advances in the phonological loop which stores sounds. Also in visual-spatial sketchpad which stores sights.
