Week 8 post 1
While I was reading this chapter is really brought me
back to some fond memories that I have of my family and growing up with all of
them. In my opinion family structure and
family function is so important for developing children. As with anything that
we do we should always want a good foundation and a good family structure will
provide a child with a solid foundation for the future and the rest of their
lives. A great foundation will provide the developing child with the right
support system, morals and core values that they will use in life. According to
our text it states that the family function is more important than the family
structure in the developing period. I am not sure if I agree but I don’t think
I disagree either I really thing they are both very import things that children
need in their lives. Furthermore after reading some more into the chapter I
understand the message that the author is trying to convey about family
function being more important. Family function can teach a developing child how
to work as a team, helping and encourage the children to be more while teaching
them valuable lessons and helping with education. Based on the family values
and standards the child’s life later on can be impacted socially whether
positive or negative due to the household and how things worked within their
dwellings.
