After reading this chapter I sat down to process all the
information and really started to think. I feel as though every event in our life that
affects us, effects our development as well. I don’t really need a theory to
understand why I developed into who I am today, it helps but I’d rather look at
the overall picture. I realized there are several events in my life that may
have affected my development in some way. I’ve learned everything I know thru
watching family, friends and mentors, or by simply teaching myself. I tend to
be more of a visual learner and I believe that affects my developmental process
for the simple fact that it’s hard for me to absorb material from reading. If I
were taught at a young age how to break this habit I would most likely have
better grades. Another example would be
my elementary school experience. When I got bullied in school I would tend to
take it to heart and exclude myself from the groups that would pick on me. This
helped me develop into a shy child and I would tend bottle up my feelings
rather than share them because I was scared of getting judged. There are so
many events like this within my life that I look back on, but never even
thought to until after reading this chapter. Sorry this blog is mainly about my
life story, but I wanted to share my thoughts, and opinions. I hope some of you
look back on your lives the same way I did.
