Week 3 Post 2
By the age of 6-9 months babies being babbling. Babbling is the extended repetition of syllables. For example ma-ma, da-da, gi-gi. The most amazing thing I've learned about babbling is that even deaf babies babbles. The only difference is that while hearing babies continue babbling deaf babies will eventually stop because they aren't able to hear responses. It just made me wonder if all deaf babies stop babbling or do some keep on babbling and making noises even though they aren't hearing the response from others. Also, I was curious as to if deaf parents have some form of child-directed speech like a hearing parent does? Because even though those who are deaf can't hear completely I was under the understanding that deaf people were able to hear hums and sounds. And since babies prefer sound are deaf babies able to hear the sounds?
