Week 3, Post 2

Habituation is forming a habit after repetition. So this mean,s to me, routine is reinforced, therefore loss of interest occurs. Babies are able to experience this, they get use to stimulus around them, and then become bored of routine. A fMRI is a magnetic resonance imaging scan that measure electrical activity in the brain by obtaining blood flow, and records the information. Using this method of measuring activity in infants, scientist believe that babies can think before they can talk, but also have goals deferred imitation, and memories (Berger, p.158). At the age of 3 months babies can determine numbers. At the age of 6 months babies form concepts and categories. , memory concerns brain organization and output. Affordances concern perception, analogy, or input. It's an interaction that's perceived according to Berger (p. 161). Elaborating on affordance, Eleanor and James Gibson conclude that perception is far from automatic. We see what we expect, not what's actually there. Afforadances are based on four types of factors which include sensory, awareness, immediate motivation, current development, and past experiences. Affordance is the ability to interact with an object, person or place, through use of perception. Affordances  become easily recognized as the infant ages. The older a infant becomes, the greater the information processing, and the better they can assess if they item in front of them interests them or not. This exemplifies that infants have a higher ability to process info.
