Week 2 Post 2

One of the newer theories discussed in this chapter is Humanism which was created by Abraham Maslow. Humanism is the theory that believes that all people have the same basic needs and drives. The hierarchy for these which was created by Maslow. First need being met is the physiological needs; foods, water, air, warmth. Second, safety and security. Third,  love and belonging. Fourth, respect and esteem. Fifth, being truly oneself. He says that if the needs aren't met in that order that you will not be able to continue through the hierarchy to access your other needs. It's actually pretty amazing to think about, because if you don't have your basically food water etc you won't be able to go on because you need those things to survive. Its pretty surprising this method is a newer theory because now looking at it, you'd think this was a simple concept to already know. So it just surprises me that it took so long. Do you think that no one thought of recording it because it is so basic? Or did no one just take the time to sit down and write out the process.
