week 2 post 2

I also learned what the eclectic perspective is. It is the approach taken by most developmentalists, in which they apply aspects of each of the various theories of development rather than adhering exclusively to one theory. Instead of just adopting one theories of development, developmentalists can use more than one or all of them because no single theory can explain the behavior of humans as they go through life.  Theories are needed to suggest hypotheses, investigations, and answers that objective research and empirical can replace untested and personal assumptions. Also, social learning theory recognizes that people learn by the observation of others. Cognitive theorists believe that thoughts and beliefs powerfully affect attitudes, actions, and perceptions. Piaget proposed four age-related periods of cognition, propelled by an active search for cognitive equilibrium and I learned that information processing focuses cognitive theories.
